TWO TWIN SOULS

One day I remember, now far in the distance, beside the beach, I heard a sailor cry.

How far do I have to travel to find the woman who wants to marry me?
" I have never found a woman, niether on land or at sea who could love me how I wish to be
loved",  he murmured disconsolately.

His words were lost to the wind and his tears disappeared in the sand.

"I will die trying! I will die without remedy, but I will continue in my efforts,
until my bones decompose beneath the earth or at the bottom of the sea.
I promise! I will go around the world, and in each port, in each brothel
and each portal, I will ask if the woman that is going to love me lives there".

The salt scented wind did not return an answer,
nothing that could console the traveller who was consumed with battered thoughts.
At the other side of the beach,  there was a young brown haired beauty with sparkling eyes,
she wore a white blouse with her skirt pulled up. She was throwing flower petals into the sea.
She asked submissively for a lover in which she could share her solitary existence.

"Where is the man that is going to love me?
I have waited all my life waiting for the waves to bring me this gallant gentleman who is going to love me ". She asked the sky, with a face full of sorrow.

At midnight, a prayer of two hearts was heard,
the sky itself trembled.

"Where is my love so true and celestial? God! When will the tears cease to flow?"

The waves took amongst their white crests, the desires of those twin souls to the sand.
Their eyes met beneath the influence of the moonlight. They searched silently
to merge their lips into a long kiss. At dawn they walked inland, hand in hand, like two lovers.

Legend has it that on that same beach, you can still hear the cries of the lovers, that have not yet found anyone to love.
